The Christian faith is more than an emotional experience; It involves what we believe about God, ourselves, and our relationship to God. It is part of the responsibility of the church to pass these beliefs on to it's members; The Church of the Nazarene has taken great care to express beliefs that are clearly taught in Scripture.
I. The Triune God
We believe in one God, the creator of all things, Who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Spirit.
II. Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, Who is fully God and fully man at the same time, Who became like us in order to purchase our salvation.
III. The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, Who is actively convicting the world of sin, and Who is our source of power.
IV. The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, giving us all we need to know about salvation and eternal life.
V. Sin, Original & Personal
We believe that we are all sinners by nature and in action, and that we need God's forgiveness & cleansing.
VI. Atonement
We believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sin, and that by trusting in His death we can be restored to a right relationship with God.
VII. Free Agency
We believe that God has enabled us to turn from sin back to Him, but that He has not forced us to do so.
VIII. Repentance
We believe that each person must repent, turn away from his sins, and trust Christ to forgive him.
IX. Justification, Regeneration & Adoption
We believe that when we turn from sin and trust in Christ, the old record of sin is wiped clean, and we are born anew, thus becoming part of the family of God.
X. Entire Sanctification
We believe that after being born anew, we need the fullness of God's Spirit in our hearts. When we make a complete commitment to God, He cleanses our spirit, fill us with His perfect love, and gives us the power to live victoriously.
XI. The Church
We believe in the Church, the community that confesses Jesus Christ as Lord, the Body of Christ called together by the Holy Spirit through the Word.
XII. Baptism
We believe in water baptism and urge our people to be baptized in the Christian faith following their salvation.
XIII. The Lord's Supper
We believe in the Communion Supper instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ and practice it as a memorial of His death and resurrection.
XIV. Divine Healing
We believe that God can heal. We pray for healing. We also believe that God can work through medical science
XV. Second Coming of Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will come again, we shall be caught up with the risen saints, and we shall ever be with the Lord,
XVI. Resurrection, Judgment & Destiny
We believe in the resurrection of the dead, that the bodies of both the just and the unjust shall be raised to life. We believe every person shall appear before God to be judged according to his or her deeds. We believe that everlasting life is assured to all who believe in, and obediently follow, Jesus Christ; And that the finally impenitent shall suffer eternally in hell.
